Bill Gleason Gasshuku in Canberra Feb 2019

Bill Gleason 7th dan Aikikai will be returning to Canberra on the 8th, 9th and 10th of February 2019. Since his last visit to Canberra in 2012 he has focused on incorporating the use of internal power within his Aikido training.

He has a vast Aikido history: residing in Japan from 1970 -1980 where he studied under Yamaguchi Seigo Shihan as his first foreign student. He received his 1st dan in 1972.

From 1972-80 he trained with Yamaguchi Shihan Monday to Friday and Takeda Shihan on weekends. He also trained with various teachers at Aikikai Honbu during this time including Kisshomaru Doshu.

In 1980 he returned to America and established Shobu Aikido dojo in Boston and was the first teacher of Jean Rene Leduc and Lia Suzuki who now head up AKI in Canada and USA respectively.

In 1985 he affiliated with Aikido Schools of Ueshiba under Shihan M. Saotome. He has also written 2 books: 'The Spiritual Founations of Aikido' which has been translated into 4 languages, and 'Aikido and Words of Power: The Sacred Sounds of the Kototama'.
